Map of average per capita state tax revenue, 2007.

Image via Wikipedia

We don’t need more revenue to feed the salacious appetites of our Representatives and Senators in Washington.   More revenue just encourages more spending,  We need capable stewards in Wash. not more spendthrifts who regard all tax revenues as their personal slush fund for their re-election campaigns.  Since we are at 15 trillion in debt now and still climbing I doubt we will correct this in time to save this nation from financial insolvency then we can kiss SS Medicare, Medicaid,  Education, National Security and Freedom good-bye forever.  Thanks a lot all you Progressives,  your Utopian Wet Dream is just around the corner,  but believe me it’s going to seen more like a nightmare.

Bumper sticker

Image via Wikipedia

At least we now understand how all those Senators and Congressmen arrive laden with debt from their campaigns and then if able to hold on to their jobs for a few rounds end up multi millionaires.  Always beneficial to get the inside tips, of course they reciprocate by accommodating their aficionados with beneficial contracts, favorable tax laws and even a Government backed loan or an out-and-out grant.

Meantime we worker bees get the joy and privilege of funding their games.

Was anyone surprised when the super committee ended up kicking the can down the road?   Of course not.   IT fits right in with His Majesty Barrack Hussein Obama’s re-election campaign.  Now he can gleefully switch from blaming Bush for all his problems to the “Do Nothing Congress” bumper sticker.   And of course with the continued chaos created by the “Occupy Everyone’s Space” cadre of union thugs and public leeches to distract the voters and the bread and circuses funded by another “stimulus” cache, oops I meant jobs program, it’s really looking pretty good for the Audacious One’s re-election.   Unfortunately, way too many voters are too gullible to see thru his acts, hopefully not the majority.

Sarah Palin at the Time 100 Gala, in Manhattan...

Image via Wikipedia

As I understand it  President Obama, a community organizer ala Sol Alinsky, abstains more than he votes while in the Illinois Legislature, and helps construct well paying jobs for his wife,  then spends most of his first term  in the US Senate running for President  meantime Sarah Palin runs a household gives birth,  helps her husband in his fishing business,  handles the business of a small town as its mayor,  and runs the State of Alaska as its Governor, and continues to give support and care to her son during his service in Iraq.  .     However, according to  Major Media Pundits Sarah is stupid and Pres.  Obama is Brilliant.  It is pretty obvious that the only reason Sarah is considered to be an empty vessel is that she refused to swallow the Socialist Utopian Kool-Aid or the revisionist history espoused by critics of the Bush Administration.    However, Sarah knows that Navy Corpsmen are not called Corpse Men.    Apparently its just not chic to consider Republicans intellectually endowed –   after all no conservative  ever saw the beauty of the arguments for Stalin style socialism (i.e. one has to break a few eggs to make an omelet) as did so many of the so called mental giants among the liberal democrats. .  Thank God.

A statue of Head Football Coach Joe Paterno ne...

Image via Wikipedia

Joe Paterno is no different from most of those who consider themselves persons of integrity yet embrace the concepts of situation ethics as practiced today, namely in any given situation whatever I do to protect my own loving self interests is ethical. He didn’t want to be the one to expose a scandal that lurked in Penn State athletic program since reporting a crime of child abuse to the police would not work to his best interest.
This same standard passes for ethics in most of our prominent institutions, even the Catholic Church, and our Federal, State and Local Governments, our schools, businesses, and of course the biggest bogeyman today Wall Street Bankers.
Perhaps we should reinstitute public flogging and branding for some crimes. People should be made to realize there are consequences to one’s self indulgences and illegal activities other than three hots and a cot paid for by their fellow citizens… It is time to re-examine our concepts of social justice. Mercy and compassion are valuable tools for those administering justice but would it be merciful or just plain stupid and irresponsible to allow a wolf to dwell unrestrained among a flock of sheep in order not to embarrass the wolf by drawing attention to its predatory nature.
Instead of instructing our children from kindergarten on about how best to masturbate and copulate, and to regard their reproductive faculties as just convent play toys how about inculcating at an early age real knowledge about respect for one’s body, the lasting pleasure of meeting ones responsibilities and obligations instead of succumbing to the instant pleasure of self-indulgence. Let us be frank with children about the world in which they must learn to survive and the real right to privacy to which they are entitled, the right to live free from molestation by adults.

As Veterans’ day approaches it is well to remember the sacrifices made by the citizens of this Nation to preserve liberty not just for ourselves but for people of all lands. It has been said one could tell where this Nation has fought it wars by the nationality of our war brides. This shows that even in the midst of carnage the will to embrace life and love rises from the ashes.
I can’t ever think of this Nation’s wars without remembering the honorable men I have known and loved who served their country in a uniform of the United States Military
My maternal grandfather served as a drummer boy in Souza’s Marine Corps Band during the Spanish American War at the age of 16. Some of my most memorable moments with my grandfather were spent learning the constellations and how to do a credible drum roll.
My father and his five brothers all of whom served during the Second World War, Three of the family including my father served in the China Burma India theatre often called the forgotten war. My uncle Joe was wounded during the Italian campaign and spent the rest of the war in one European hospital or another. My uncle Mike was permanently disabled with repeated bouts with Malaria. My uncle Tony went to pilot training. Everyone worried about Tony especially since he had chosen such a dangerous route to serve his country. Actually Tony never saw combat because they kept delaying his training at different stages of the war, and mostly he played golf on some of the best courses throughout the south. His wife often referred to it as a prolonged honeymoon.
My father was already in the service at the outbreak of WWII, he had enlisted at 17 and was a top sergeant when Pearl Harbor was bombed, he was offered a field commission but chose to go to Officers Candidate School instead at the age of 36 he shipped over to the CBI theatre shortly after graduation and spent almost four years in India and China. You served for the duration in those days for the most part. His four brothers all joined the service after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. They were among hundreds who joined the military from the same small coal mining, steel mill town in Eastern Pennsylvania just outside of Wilkes Barre.

There is a marble monument in that small town listing all the young men who left to serve in the War. The original monument was a wooden sign placed on the front lawn of the local Greek Catholic Church but it deteriorated over the years and was replaced with a marble monument. The ironic twist to the story of the five brothers volunteering for service is that my grandfather had fled Galicia in Eastern Europe (part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire) to avoid service in the military. When asked what he thought of his five sons volunteering to serve in the US military he just said “This Country is worth fighting for”. I am sure this sentiment was shared by many of the fathers of the young men whose names are carved on that marble monument in the little town of Buttonwood PA.

My cousin buddy, a six foot rather shy 19 year old served in Korea, towards the end of hostilities not in combat but as a Military Policeman so he missed most of the pain and suffering endured by so many young Americans at the time.

My husband served in Vietnam, taking the war to the enemy from unarmed aircraft, first as a Forward Air Controller flying an O-1, then as an RF-4 pilot flying out of Udorn until he was promoted and sent to Saigon. The saddest part of that time was that so many valiant soldiers were maligned by fellow citizens who chose to do their fighting on the streets of our otherwise safe cities.
Now that we have an all volunteer Army there are probably not as many families that can personally relate to the sacrifices made by our honorable warriors, that doesn’t mean they cannot appreciate that this country has been blessed throughout its history with courageous men of great valor who deserve to be honored on this special day. I am glad I got to know at least some of them. Those mentioned here are gone now, may they all rest in peace – proud in the knowledge of a life well lived and a job well done.

"Walter Reed Hospital Flu Ward". Pho...

Image via Wikipedia

Veterans Day is near and I think it appropriate to say a few
words in memory of Walter Reed Hospital.
I was born there the year FDR was inaugurated; I had my tonsils removed
there just before we entered WWII and I had my 2nd pregnancy
diagnosed by a Dr. at Walter Reed.  My
father died there at 51 from a massive heart attack, my mother’s last days were
spent there, and my husband after a nearly fatal aircraft accident in Vietnam
was brought to Walter Reed after months in Japan as his first step to recovery
stateside.

Certainly thousands of other military families have had
similar experiences with this old Army Medical Center, actually the facilities
were laid out very much like an Army Post, and it functioned as such for
many.   The grand old lady lost some of
her charm as she grew older with cavernous tunnels wandering between later
additions to the main building and finally I suppose just deteriorated to the
point where it didn’t make much sense to ignore all the problems that had
accumulated and the decision was made to rebuild instead of repair and the
facilities have been moved to Bethesda.
Many of her buildings will be taken over by our ever expanding plethora
of Government agencies and bureaus, but I hope they try to preserve for history
some of the graciousness and southern charm of the original medical center out
of respect for the service rendered to her Nation and its warriors.

In January 2009, President of the United State...

The idea that President Obama can slough off the idiocy and
inadequacy of his policies by claiming he had to work with a do nothing
Congress is the final proof that he thinks all the citizens of this country are
morons. Well, obviously some are but many aren’t and hopefully they will be the
ones out voting next year.

The difference between Barrack Obama and other American
citizens is that if  any other citizen
had applied for a job and been asked to produce a certified copy of their birth
certificate and they said quit bugging me you racist slob,    they wouldn’t have been hired.   Instead of supplying his future employers
with what they requested we got the finger and two years of a dude with a
tude,   and we’re supposed to believe he
is a regular run of the mill everyday average citizen, not so much.   Obama has been allowed a lot of slack
throughout his life and the thanks he gives to his fellow citizens is to
identify anyone who doesn’t worship at his altar as a nasty racists bigot
clinging to their guns and churches.
What a bunch of typical Democrat crapola.  Obama has shown himself to be an arrogant
insufferable racist himself and probably one of the worst Presidents this
country has known, but I guess the old adage works,   if you can’t dazzle them with your brilliance,
bury them in Bull excrement.  .
